Book Review: The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn

I have never read an adult thriller and this book was the first. I don't know what to expect from this book but the moment I placed it on my shelves after an impulsive book buying--- its cover compelled me to read it.

“I have a feeling that inside you somewhere, there’s something nobody knows about.

I was a fan of the Gone Girl movie which was adapted from an adult thriller book by Gillian Flynn. The main reason why I bought this book was because I want to experience again the feeling of being immersed in the world like Gone Girl, and I risked this book will do it.
SYNOPSIS: Anna Fox lives alone—a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times . . . and spying on her neighbors.
Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, a mother, their teenage son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble—and its shocking secrets are laid bare.
What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.
The premise was very interesting. It was not unique but the things that could possibly happen in the book after reading the premise was very interesting. I loved how the book gripped my soul and how it managed to leave me almost breathless. Yes, I loved this book.

The characters were weird but interesting. They might have that overflowing personalities but their conditions were enough to get your mind blown away. There were limited characters but I guess it was perfect for the premise and the plot. You might not find the characters very interesting but they were made enough to not let you forget them easily.

The writing style was new to me. Since I was reading almost YA for the past couple of years-- adult genre seems foreign to me. Yet, I loved it. This is the authors debut novel and for me, to the standards of debut novel, the author made a tremendous job. The writing style was not boring nor complicated it was borderline simple yet thought provoking.
